0:45--2:00 Here's something that took me a long time to understand. For years, I was ashamed of my story. I was ashamed of the bankruptcy. Ashamed of the janitor job. Ashamed of starting over at a time when most people my age were consolidating their success. So I hid it. I minimized it. I tried to present a version of myself that skipped the messy middle. And my message fell flat. People could sense that I was holding something back. They couldn't connect with me fully because I wasn't showing up fully. The moment I decided to TELL MY FULL STORY --- the rise AND the fall AND the rise again --- everything changed. People leaned in. They connected. They said, "That's me. That's my story too." And suddenly, my greatest shame became my greatest asset. "The very thing you're most ashamed of is often the very thing that will connect you most powerfully to the people you're meant to serve." --- Marques Ogden Brené Brown's research on vulnerability confirms this. In Daring Greatly, she shows that vulnerability --- the willingness to show up and be seen even when the outcome is uncertain --- is actually the birthplace of connection, creativity, and meaning. Your pivot story, with all its messiness and pain, is your most authentic and most powerful tool. So this week, I want you to begin drafting YOUR pivot story. Not the sanitized version. The REAL version. Include the moment it fell apart. Include what you felt. Include what you learned. Include how you came back. That story --- YOUR story --- is the most powerful business asset you have. Key Takeaway: Your pivot story --- including the pain, the failure, and the comeback --- is your most powerful tool for connection, authority, and impact. Tell it fully and tell it authentically. Reflection Questions: 1\. What part of your pivot story are you most tempted to hide or minimize? Why? What would it mean to share it fully? 2\. How has your pivot made you more equipped to serve others? What wisdom did it give you that you couldn't have gotten any other way? 3\. Write the first three sentences of your authentic pivot story. Make them real, specific, and vulnerable.
